African Sunset
Oil paint..not sure how big the canvas is cuz the measurements were on the wrapping...Anyway, it's the biggest I've done so far! Proud of me? I used a photo reference for the sunset (hard to get the clouds just right), and the rest was my imagination...:)
Gabe and Nora bought this one from me--YIPEE!! So, I'm sorry it's not available anymore...heh

The Staredown
Oil on canvas board. This is a few months old, I'm working on another impala painting now.... I'm a bit behind on the blog. I promised myself at the beginging of this year that I would do a painting once a month (no matter the size, medium, or uglyness). Anyway, I have a lot of catching up to do. Wish me luck!

Little Faerie
Oil on canvas board(30.5x40.6cm). Copied from a photo. (Most people tell me she looks like a little brown Kiara. haha)
So as you can see I've been busy. The latest paintings have been done in the last 2 or 3 months. I've been working through most of my spare time and days off. This(above) is the first oil painting I've ever done.--And I have to say that I LOVE OIL PAINTS. They're so amazing and fun to work with. I'm so excited I just want to find books on oil and just read and paint all day long...sigh. I can't believe that I've never painted with oil before. And I'd like to say sorry about the dull colors. Joy can tell you that it's not actually that bad in real life. I have a hard time capturing my art with a camera.

New Beginings
Art is an expression of the soul.
As I'm sure you've guessed, this blog is dedicated to art. I decided to create a blog for my art as I didn't want to swamp the other one with all my paintings and sketches.
Ever since I was a kid I loved to draw and color. I was always drawing pictures, coloring, pen and paper were my friends. But I was also a little temperamental and if the drawing wasn't exactly to my liking I would scribble it up/rip it/ crumple it, and it would end up in the trash. This trend carried on into my teens and that's why I don't have many samples of my art to this day. I've tried to reverse this trend and tell myself, "even if it's horrible, but you still have to keep it". So, I do have a few scraps here and there.
Now I understand it doesn't have to be perfect.--It never is and never will be. "It's not where you're going, but how you get there that counts." Well that's true of my paintings, I have so much fun painting it doesn't matter so much anymore how it turns out in the end. It's how I feel on paper. It's my heart on canvas...so take it or leave it!
